Glossary of Ingredients
ALMOND SWEET OIL
Sweet Almond Oil repairs damaged skin by preventing evaporation whilst providing lubrication. The triglyceride oil of the almond nut helps to soothe & smooth the skin by mimicking the natural moisturising factors (NMFs) & lipids in the skin. It can be use with safety and confidence on all skin types, including sensitive skins and is well tolerated by disturbed oily skins. Sweet Almond Oil is a good source of B vitamins, and the minerals calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.
ALOE VERA LEAF JUICE
Aloe Babadensis’s nourishing properties promote minor wound, burn and rash healing & is an excellent moisturiser & emollient. It is a skin/hair soother, healer, repairer and collagen booster.
AVOCADO OIL
Superior moisturiser; rich in Vitamin A, B1, B2, D and E. High in sterolins which help reduce ages spots and help heal sun damage and scars. Avocado oil is rich & nourishing and penetrates deeply into the skin. It is a superior moisturiser because of its wonderful emollient properties & is easily absorbed which helps to soften dry, dehydrated &/or mature skin.
BARLEY BRAN
Natural & gentle exfoliation through particles of barley bran.
BILBERRY EXTRACT
Helps even out skin tone and reduce dark circles. Bilberry is high in anti-oxidants and gentle fruit acids that go to work to help stabilise cell membranes, strengthen capillaries, reduce redness, tone and rejuvenate the skin.The bilberry herb is renowned for it’s ability to evening out the skin tone and help reduce dark circles.
BLACK MOUTAIN PEPPER OIL
Extracted from the Tasmanian Mountain Pepper and is included in VitaMan Sports Desert Muscle Rub. It increases the circulation and warms the muscles without a burning effect on the skin. Perfect for pre & post muscle rubdowns! It increases local blood flow wherever it is applied. The warmth and circulation stimulating the recovery of stressed joints and muscular aches.
BLUE CYPRESS OIL
Anti-bacterial properties help relieve sore, sunburnt, itchy, irritated and/or flaky skin whilst cleansing and conditioning the skin and/or hair.
Blue Cypress Oil comes from the Australian Cypress Pine and is more ancient than the well-known Tea Tree. Guaiazulen, which gives this oil its blue colour, is also well known as an anti-inflammatory substance. Australia’s indigenous aborigines have traditionally used it as an anti-bacterial wash for sores and cuts and to cleanse.
Blue Cypress Oil is also used to help relieve itching of the skin, especially insect bites, as well as an analgesic – the bark mixed with water and smeared on the body to relieve minor aches and pains.
It is found in VitaMan After-Shave Balm to relieve irritated skin. This balm is also excellent for use after waxing and laser hair removal as well as for rashes, skin redness and sunburn. Blue Cypress oil is also found in VitaMan Scalp Treatment to help keep the scalp clean and prevent scalp infections.
CAMPHOR
Camphor is a naturally occurring compound derived from the wood of the camphor tree, Cinnamomum camphora. Camphor is often used for its scent.
CEDARWOOD OIL
Cedarwood essential oil has a balancing effect on the skin's sebaceous glands whether they are over active or under active making it excellent for dry or oily skin or scalp. Soothing and comforting, cedarwood oil extracts are best known for their warm, woody and balsamic aromas.
CHAMOMILE OIL
Soothing, healing and anti-inflammatory to the skin. Herbal extract with anti-oxidant properties.
CINNAMON LEAF EXTRACT
Used to treat skin infection whilst imparting a warm, spicy aroma.
Embraced by both Asian and European cultures for centuries, Cinnamon Oil characteristic, warm, spicy, cinnamon aroma, this essential oil is 100% Pure and Natural and used to treat muscular and joint aches and pains.
CLOVE OIL
Anti-inflammatory & stimulating. The health benefits of clove oil can be attributed to its antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral, aphrodisiac and stimulating properties. The oil is used for treating a variety of health disorders including toothaches, indigestion, cough, asthma, headache, stress and blood impurities.
COMFREY
Comfrey is traditionally used to heal damaged skin, ulcers and general chapped skin. This is mainly due to one of its active ingredients - allantoin - a powerful cell proliferator
EMU OIL
Traditionally used to calm and moisturise the skin. Assists with the absorption of active plant extracts. Naturally high in Omega 3- 6 and 9, Oleic acid (skin repairing) and Linolenic acid.
Emu oil has been shown in studies to aid in reducing scar formation in healed burn wounds, muscle sprains, and arthritis due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Emu oil is naturally an anti-fungal substance Emu oil is almost 100% triglyceride.
EUCALYPTUS OIL
Calming, soothing oil suitable for irritated or sensitive skin, restoring calm and balance. Anti-bacterial, Anti-inflammatory and Antiseptic properties help treat and heal sore muscles and aches and pains. Warms the muscles and increases the blood flow and circulation.
EVENING PRIMROSE OIL
Helps restore moisture and lipid balance to dry skin conditions.
High in GLA, evidence indicates that Evening Primrose Oil is useful in treating eczema, psoriasis and dry skin.
EYEBRIGHT EXTRACT
Tightens & firms skin around eyes, reduces puffiness around eyes. Evens out blotchy skin and improves skin tone.
GINGER
The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Ginger are well known, as well as its potent antioxidant activity.
GRAPE SEED EXTRACT
A powerful Anti-oxidant that helps protect skin cells from premature aging. Promotes skin elasticity and flexibility. Powerful phenols (anti oxidants) prevent oxidization of the skin’s cells that can be caused by free radicals from constant exposure to daily city pollution.
GRAPEFRUIT OIL
Natural skin toner and tightens puffy skin.
The anti oxidants in Grapefruit also have toning, exfoliating, lifting and refreshing effects on the skin.
Traditionally used by Aborigines within the northern and western areas outside of Sydney, they crushed the plant and rubbed the juice on sores, cuts, insect bites and sunburn as it promoted rapid healing of the skin.
This has recently been scientifically validated in studies that showed it increased rapid cell multiplication, hence quickening the healing process of the skin. It was also shown to give good results with the healing of skin lesions associated with AIDS patients. Grass Lily is the major active plant ingredient used in the VitaMan skincare range.
GREEN TEA EXTRACT
Herbal anti-oxidant that reverses skin damage.
Green Tea is known to be a natural powerful anti-oxidant that has been shown to help protect skin cells against damage from free radicals. Green Tea is a valuable ingredient in preventative & anti aging skin care.
High in anti-oxidant activity, bio- available polyphenols gives green tea powerful anti-oxidant & cell protecting properties making it a valuable DNA protector for all of the bodies cells including the skin.
GROUNDED WATTLE SEED
Aids in the gentle elimination of built up dirt, grime and dry dead skin cells without scratching or damaging the skins tiny blood vessels under the skin.
HORSE CHESTNUT
Aids in stimulating blood flow and circulation also high in B Vitamins.
Also high in B vitamins and aescin which maybe responsible for the anti-inflammatory and decongesting action of Aesculus.
HYDROLYSED WHEAT PROTEIN
World recognized as an amazingly effective Hair Conditioning protein derived from Wheat to promote healthy manageable hair.
JOJOBA OIL
An extremely fine, non-greasy and hydrating oil that moisturises and conditions the skin. Heals skin sores, wounds & acne. Protects skin from bacteria. Suitable for all skin types. Jojoba oil creates a protective layer of moisture. The molecule structure of JOJOBA is so close to our own skin structure.
Jojoba oil is a moisturising, skin conditioning, highly emollient oil suitable for all skin types & penetrates the skin easily without leaving the skin feeling greasy. It helps to balance the production of sebum - your skin's own lubricating system.

KAKADU PLUM EXTRACT
Kakadu Plum contains powerful antioxidants preventing premature aging caused by free radicals
It contains the highest natural occurring Vitamin C in the world and is included in stabilised serum form to act as a powerful anti-oxidant protector for the skin. It also helps the skin produce more collagen.
LACTIC ACID
Smooth and promote flexibility to the skin's surface.
Milk acids help breakdown clogged skin cells making way for new cells underneath to give a clean, glowing look to the skin. Used in conjunction with other AHA’s in small amounts that do not irritate the skin.
LAVENDER OIL
Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Excellent for oily skin. Great for stressed skin, Lavender oil is calming & soothing.
LEMON MYRTLE OIL
Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties help cleanse and protect the skin
Lemon Myrtle is another exceptional herb used by the Australian Rainforest Aborigines as a tonic plant – often boiled and drunk as a tea or used as a liniment for the skin. Leaves were crushed and the scent inhaled to relieve chest and bronchial congestion, flu and colds.
Lemon Myrtle has been scientifically proven to be highly anti-bacterial and anti-microbial.
Lemon Myrtle oil is found in VitaMan Face Scrub and Face & Body Cleanser. It helps to clean and protect the skin from infections. Lemon Myrtle’s unique natural aroma is a combination of lemon, lime and lemongrass, which have cross-pollinated over many years.
LIME OIL
Treats and protects against skin infections.
MACADAMIA NUT OIL
Highly emollient for dry or aging skin as a moisturiser to soften and supply the skin with essential fatty acids.
MENTHOL
Natural cooling astringent for the skin, scalp and body.
OLIVE OIL
Olive oil is known for its moisturizing, regenerating and softening properties.
It stimulates skin microcirculation, promotes the elimination of toxins and protects the skin against free radical damage.
OIL OF WINTERGREEN
Increases blood flow to the area of application, creating a warming effect.
ORANGE SWEET OIL
Australian Essential Oil valued for improving oily skin – while helping prevent capillary fragility.
AUSTRALIAN PAPAYA EXTRACT
Strong antiseptic properties along with proven skin-healing abilities - highly soothing and an anti-irritant. Papaya proteolytic enzyme exfoliates dead and damaged cells enhancing skin smoothness and encouraging cell renewal.
PATCHOULI OIL
Tones, tightens and smoothes rough, dry & cracked skin – masculine aroma. Regenerates the skin cells and regulates oiliness in skin, hair & scalp disorders.
PANTHENOL
Also known as pro vitamin B5, Panthenol conditions and strengthens hair & skin leaving it soft and smooth.
AUSTRALIAN NATIVE PEPPERMINT OIL
Essential Australian Peppermint Oil invigorates & stimulates circulation
Acts as a penetration enhancer allowing other chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin. Peppermint Oil is a stimulating oil that gives the skin a cool fresh feel, while providing natural anti bacterial properties that leave the skin clean.
PINE BARK EXTRACT
Acknowledged as one of the world’s most potent anti-oxidants. High content of proanthocyanadins, flavonoids and organic acids contained in refined Pine Bark Extract provide extraordinary antioxidant & wrinkle fighting properties while acting as free-radical scavengers , providing effective skin protection against pollution
ROSE HIP OIL
Moisturising, hydrating and anti oxidants. Rose hip oil is a fruit oil extracted from the hip or fruit of the rose. An excellent natural source of vitamin C, rose hips have been used for centuries as a medicinal herbal remedy in teas, syrups and tinctures.
Rose hips are thought to be richer in vitamin C than many citrus fruits. Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is a vitamin absolutely necessary for the body to remain in good health as it not only acts as an antioxidant and protects the body against free radicals; it protects against infection, helps with wound repair and promotes healthy cell development.
The seed of the rose hip contains a host of other essential vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids which make Rose Hip Oil an altogether amazing natural ingredient.
ROSEMARY EXTRACT
Purifying, cleansing and antiseptic properties.
Rosemary is easily absorbed, & contains anti-oxidant compounds as a free radical scavenger used for anti-aging. In addition Rosemary Oils soothe & condition hair, skin and scalp.
SAGE EXTRACT
Strong astringent and healing properties as well as skin soothing ability.
AUSTRALIAN SANDALWOOD
Australian essential oil- Used to treat infections and reduces puffiness. Soothing and calming effect on skin.
SAW PALMETTO
Saw palmetto extract has been shown in studies to be a valid treatment for male pattern baldness as it assist’s in promoting hair growth by preventing the conversion of testosterone to de-Hydrotesterone
SHEA BUTTER
Natural butter from the Shea nut that has excellent moisturising, emollient and humectant benefits to the skin.
A moisturizing paste derived from the Shea nut. Shea Butter accelerates cell renewal and repairs the hydrolipidic film that retains optimal moisture levels and gives the skin its strength. Shea Butter leaves the skin supple, hydrated and protected.
SILICA
The mineral silica is an important nutrient for connective tissue in the skin. It is important for optimal collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. Known worldwide as the “Beauty Mineral!”
SPEARMINT OIL
Native Australian Tasmanian Mint- This essential oil calms and cools itching – invigorating fresh aroma.
AUSTRALIAN TEA TREE OIL
Anti-microbial, anti-bacterial - masculine fragrance, this essential oil has excellent skin healing properties & reduces inflammation. Famous around the world, Tea Tree Oil ( Melaleuca alternifolia ) also clears the sinuses and reduces the effects of symptoms of colds & flus when inhaled.
UBIQUINONE (CO-ENZYME Q10)
Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like compound also called ubiquinone.Used topically, it offers powerful, proven and effective protection against free radicals, thus helping shield cells from environmental oxidation damage, while strengthening blood capillary walls.
