How To Look After Skin in Winter
There are two types of men in the world - men who care about the condition of their face and men that don't. If you’re new to the game, there’s something you really need to know about skincare - it’s seasonal! Your regime needs to change with the weather otherwise you’re looking at the pain and shame of having more than a few cracks in the wrong places.
Threat not! In this quick post, we’re giving you a crash course in winter mode. When the temperatures fall and the rains come in to wreak havoc on your face, these are the top tips you need to keep in mind if you want grade-A skin:
Grab a gentle cleanser
A colder climate means less sweat, so you'll need a cleanser that’s far less aggressive than typical soaps. Stick to a conventional, overly harsh face wash and you’re asking to do more damage than good. At VITAMAN we know that the more natural and gentle you go, the more your skin will thank you in both the long and short-term.
Our Face and Body Cleanser is made from 99% naturally derived ingredients. It has an organic White Tea extract base that’s proven to bolster skin health, Aloe Vera leaf juice to moisturise, and a carefully selected blend of other natural oils and fruit extracts to provide a mild, rejuvenative clean. Ditch the hard soaps and stick to pH balanced cleansers to keep your skin from drying out and flaring up like a storm this winter.
Get into exfoliation
We know what you're thinking, “isn't that taking things a bit far?” The real question is, do you want your skin in tip-top shape or not? If you do, exfoliation is key! Exfoliation is essentially the removal of dead skin cells and it ensures your moisturiser is able to penetrate your skin as effectively as possible. How often is optimal? Aim to use VITAMAN’s Face Scrub around 2-3 times a week for best results.
Stay moisturised
The colder and wetter things get, the more moisture is drawn from your skin. In winter, the name of the game is locking in as much moisture as possible without overworking your skin. So you're going to need a richer moisturiser that's built to stop dehydration.
When we say “rich”, we don't necessarily mean “heavy”. Don't leap for the thickest cream on the shelf! These thicker bad boys will be overly greasy which can clog your pores and lead to all kinds of unwanted mess.
Stick to light bodied moisturisers like VITAMAN’s Face Moisturiser to keep your skin feeling refreshed and go for naturally scented variants if your skin’s on the sensitive side of things.
Those are the basics! We hope this quick list of simple tips has helped. These are the main things to get on top of if you want your skin to stay at its best this winter.
Ignore the seasons and your skin will let you know the hard way!
